Term Limits? Eh, We'll Fix That...

So, here in New York City, the City Council yesterday voted to 'extend' term limits to three terms for City offices ONLY for the 2009 election. The reason? To be able to have Mayor Mike Bloomberg run for third term. Now, the citizens of NYC have voted twice in favor of term limits and the City Council has now usurped the will of the people and given themselves, basically, another 4 years in office. The City Council and the Mayor have engaged in some shady payola schemes in terms of buying votes for this effort. About 90% of New Yorkers are against extending term limits, even for a Mayor as 'popular' as Bloomie.

So, since the people cannot vote on the terms limits measure, it's now up to the people to decide whether they wish to grant another term to crooked politicians.

See the article below, as it explains it better than I...

City Council Agrees... Two Terms is Not Enough

Great Analogy for Obama-McCain

I heard this on the radio yesterday and thought it was fantastic. Sure I am stealing it but I think it is succinct and telling...

Joe the Plumber works hard and has a dream for his future. Barack Obama works hard and also has a dream for his future. However, Barack Obama can achieve his dream an in doing so, eliminate Joe the Plumber's dream.

This is the reality we are facing. Don't listen to the polls. Teach people the truth about Obama. Our country's sovereignty is at stake here...

Iran's Not REALLY a Threat... Right?

So, apparently the regime in Iran feels that Israel is a threat to its ever-so-peaceful quest for nuclear power, that they are recommending a pre-emptive strike against Israel... Is this a ploy to raise the plummeting price of oil? Is this a ploy to wake Israel's government up to the real threat?

Joe Biden is a soothsayer... International crisis... Check!

Iranian Regime Recommends Pre-Emptive Strike on Israel

Latest AP Poll: Statistical Tie?

Say it ain't so... Of course, I take anything rom the AP with a grain of salt. However, it's a glimmer of (false?) hope...

AP Poll: Obama 44% McCain 43%

From Hotair.com... The Comprehensive Argument Against Obama

There are no words for this aside from read it all... An excellent piece built on facts and the record.

Red States vs. Blue States, Part 1

So, as we get closer and closer to the election, the divide between the Blue and Red states sems to be greater than ever... Some Red States are heading into purple territory, with few of the Blue States turning Red... This leads to some pretty interesting contrasts regarding the belief systems of Red and Blue State America. This post will highlight just a few...

1. Society: Blue State America feels in agreement with Senator Obama's plan to make America look more and more like European government, that is, one that thrives on a Social Democratic way. Red State America thrives on values based on a Judeo-Christian heritage and wishes to lead using that example. It bings into question the whole 'Citizen of the World' argument...

The societal differences are stark. Are we Americans first? John McCain's campaign slogan is 'Country First', a not-so-veiled attack at the underlying feel that Obama's status as 'Citizen of the World' really ticks off a large portion of us. I for one, don't care about how other nations and governments operate. If they want to believe in fairness for all and redistribution of wealth, that is fine but that was never what America stood for. This rift between 'Blue State' and 'Red State' America is growing and is being testing in this election cycle. Are we really going to use Europe as the 'new' American model? What successes has European government really had in the mid to late 20th Century? Is the European model consistent with the vision of our Founding Fathers?

My answer is no. The European model of government has been unsuccessful, and, given the current economic climate, is far too dangerous for us to follow.

Gaffe-tacular Joe Biden...

So, Joe, what do ya know?

""Mark my words, it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate...and he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

Wow... I believe that is what Conservatives have been screaming now for a year with this clown. Obama is a risk and a big one... To me, 'international crisis' means a loss of American life and or property...

Joe Biden amazingly told the truth. And shockingly (he he), the Obama campaign has pulled him of the trail today...

Barack Obama is a huge risk for this country. I can't believe we are close to electing him. Wake up America!

Ohio Voter Rolls Watch - Where Do You Live Again?

Interesting article in today's Cincinnati Enquirer... Here is the link Who ARE These Voters?

So, it seems that some of those who are 'registered' to vote in Ohio live in the Ohio River, others, in the parking lot of Paul Brown Stadium... What the hell is going on here? We pride ourselves as having a very solid record of clean elections but the election of 2008 is proving to be very complicated. Voter registration fraud allegations against ACORN (the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now) are all over the place in the major swing states in this election. Ohio is a key state, as a loss here for Senator John McCain would essentially give the White House to Senator Obama.

We are not a banana republic, are we? Are we a nation who has to have one side cheat to achieve our goals? I know Democrats are still angry over their perceived 'selection' of President Bush in 2000 but voter fraud is extreme and illegal. This must be looked at and stopped. The whole fabric of our democracy is at stake here.
